  1. Thor - Somehow getting an appliance for my wife for Christmas, just doesn't have "good idea written all over it"

Although I did get her an iron for her birthday...

  2. Mutt,

I just got a stock pot with pasta insert for an early Christmas present, so somethings are more appreciated than others! It's the thought that counts!

  3. Thor,

Love the picture! No, I am barely tunneling out from the Thanksgiving feast. So many dishes that are only used once or twice a year, so little time!

  4. Big Brother is watching but not in the way you think:

This Black Friday, Somebody’s Watching While You Shop

"The satellites snap pictures of hundreds of shopping malls, and analysts painstakingly count the cars in the parking lots of each one, looking to pin down the fill rates of each parking lot.

Armed with that number, analysts can compare this week’s shopping activity with the same week in 2009 and in 2008."

Of course, cars do not always equate with actual sales, but the concept is fascinating.

  5. About silver, probably been discussed here already, if so sorry for not doing my homework: I just took notice of Keiser campaign against JP Morgan.

ZH gives an update showing growing shortages in silver.

I have zero knowledge related to currencies or precious metals. Do you lads think that physical silver is still a good opportunity, or too late to get in ?

Anyway, regardless of any potential profits, it's christmas time soon, so thought I may contribute some bucks to JPM's present.

  6. Hi all, hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Open thread, I have an opportunity to go see the author of "The Creature from Jekyll Island" speak tomorrow about his new book (& there's a movie). His new book is about... wait for it... chemtrails and "the Chemtrail Geo-Engineering Coverup". My instinct is to not  waste my time, but his "Creature..." book was well received (by the abolish the Fed camp at least).

There're a small fee to attend so it costs my money and my time, but the restaurant it's at *is* really good. I'm trying to keep an open mind. Thoughts?

  7. Cameron,

I read Jekyll Island a few years back and it was very interesting. If you are interested in the subject matter I would go, but I have not heard of the Geo Engineering Cover up, (obviously few people have since it is a cover up)I guess it is a toss up. Usually authors are a pretty good bet for a lecture.

  8. Thx dss.

I haven't read Jekyll island, but it has good reviews on Amazon, I also did a search on TBP. and it was referenced in a good way there too. Just not sure on the chemtrails aspect. But, I guess if it heads down a rabbit hole, I can stock up on tasty appetizers and head out.

  9. From "winning the class war":

"So here we have the billionaire and the millionaire telling the poor and the struggling — the little people — that they will just have to make do with less. You can almost feel the bitterness rising.

Extreme inequality is already contributing mightily to political and other forms of polarization in the U.S. And it is a major force undermining the idea that as citizens we should try to face the nation’s problems, economic and otherwise, in a reasonably united fashion. When so many people are tumbling toward the bottom, the tendency is to fight among each other for increasingly scarce resources."

  11. Arrianna Huffington going mainstream-

"HuffPost's advice to American jobless: Move to Canada". www.theglobeandmail.com

What I was thinking all along. Why don't jobless Americans come to Canada? The oil patch(Alberta) need skilled trades people - plumbers, electricians, engineers, pipefitters etc.

  12. Housing Outlook - 2011 When prices will head up

"But Zandi thinks the job market will begin to turn around by mid to late 2011. And the Federal Reserve will ensure that mortgages stay dirt-cheap at least until employment picks up again. Zandi says that the best reason for a bit of optimism is this: With few exceptions, the market is fairly valued based on the relationship of home prices to income and apartment rents. Some markets have actually become undervalued, which will attract more buyers and investors."

This rosy scenario is at least not predicting the end of the world.
