  2. Great linkfest Emmie!

Wunsacon, NPR has an interview with Ron Paul airing this weekend.

  3. Thanks for the linkfest, Emmanuel117. It's really helpful to me. I've picked up some pretty good sites from you that are now on my cruising list.

  4. Ron Paul does make some of the best points about the prosecution of Assange that I have heard yet. And the parallels between them and the Pentagon Papers also is not an accident.

Unfortunately, there is too much money to be made so the wars will continue, endlessly. They didn't spend $1billion on the Iraq embassy because they were planning on leaving in the near future.

  5. Great links, emmy, Thanks! Now we have something interesting to read for the weekends.

  6. Here's some classy hackers:a group called "gnosis", who recently gave details about its attack against Gawker servers (a media company which publishes lifehacker.com, among other websites).

Sorry for the targeted company, who may well be nice people. However, I admit the report of the events makes the whole thing look very cool (reads like a thriller).

    Among other gems:the intro
" So, here we are again with a monster release of ownage and data droppage.
Previous attacks against the target were mocked, so we came along and raised the bar a little.
Fuck you gawker, hows this for "script kids"?
Your empire has been compromised, Your servers, Your database's, Online accounts and source
code have all be ripped to shreds!
You wanted attention, well guess what, You've got it now!"

Also, they give a suprisingly long list of credentials which password is ... "password"

  7. @Wolfie,

That is some pretty funny stuff at the link. No one is safe!

  8. @Emmanuel,

    Thanks, great links as always.

Re that shale gas abundance, TransCanada Pipeline is having problems increasing revenue- too much gas in the U.S. already. I am thinking of dumping that "long", despite a good dividend.

  13. In a sign of the cultural shift, even some steadfast conservatives climbed aboard the repeal effort at the last moment. Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) cast an unexpected vote in favor, citing a “generational transition that has taken place in our nation.” Sen.-elect Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) also said he supported ending “don’t ask.”

Something to consider with today's repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell. Does this mean that the Republican Party has finally shrugged off the Religious Right? I've often wondered how long that love affair would last, I guess they finally figure out that our religious fundamentalists were reminding everyone of the other religious fundamentalists we've been fighting for the last decade.

  14. For a continuation of my comment yesterday:

I forgot to mention all the stocks in my "down" list are showing at least one black bar (trend downward) on the 3LB.

So here are stocks you may wish to think about for our "up up and away" market. This is their performance last week, as compared to the S&P's about 1% down week:

    .02
D EXC PCG PPL CPB POG MTH WY FLR SRE ALEX AVY CMI DD ECH EWD EWT BLK FULT SBNY EMC RAX MOT ADBE INTU CMI HON MMM

    .03:
SLX CMC ANN DECK GES WAG CL KFT MHK RYL VMC CA CAT

    .04:
MTL BID BWS DKS OLP SD BHI ECL LEG SD GRMN JBL TSM ORCL

    .05:
    IPI ARO ESV MON TEX

    .06:
MT NUE LULU HCP WFT EROC R

    .07:
SCHN STLD JOYG NIHD SLE IRM

    .08:
    HOTT

    .09:
    TX X CAN

    .1:
    PATR CIEN

    .15:
    JOE

Bloomberg (Betty) interviewed David Einhorn on Thursday. I wasn't impressed, but he said he's big short on JOE because the company is using its cash to stay afloat and will run out in about 10 years. Like they don't intend to do anything about it until then. Peepl sometimes make the stoopidest comments.

Anyway, here's the list of the stocks you may wish to wait for a pullback, and nibble. It's interesting, I think there were more weak stocks than strong ones in this pullback.

I believe the mini pullback is over, and it's up up and away until after Christmas, and maybe till new year. Let's see if I'm 2 for 2 on my prognostications.

  15. Wow! I just looked at my 1/4 Billion dollar scanner, and 26 stocks hit the 1/4 billion $ transaction on Friday.

I've never seen that many in one day! I think the max has been 10

  16. Thor,

No, I think that it was a deal, you pass the Tax Bill and we will go along with the repeal of DADT. It was all so simple.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thor - So you are going to be getting a lot of rain for the next few days.

Here are some things you will need

    1) Flippers
    2) Snorkel
    3) Mask or goggles

If you do not think that will be enuff, I would suggest.

  18. Thks Emmy. Especially enjoyed the Zombie Karl Popper cartoon. Love this quote: "In other words, we predict our own inability to predict".

To keep in the cartoon theme, the lads that produced the Quantitative Easing Explained cartoon have done another cool movie:JP Morgan Silver Manipulation Explained.

  19. Mutt - Heh, good advice. The thing that's most challenging for me is being stuck inside for so long. I get cabin fever pretty quick.

  20. Manny,

Have a great vacation in Colorado!

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Thor: That's right. My brother told me about that because he lives part time up in Tahoe and will be heading up there next week for the holidays.

It's also been snowing quite a bit in Winter Park, CO (the Rockies) where we'll be headed tomorrow. Have a great holiday week everyone! I doubt I'll get good service up there this week, so my posting and perusing could be sparse, which is fine with me. Always good to get a break from this stuff from time to time!

  22. Manny - have a wonderful holiday! Yes, get some time away from us crazies :-)

These storms are something else, I've never seen anything like it in a long long time. It's been raining steadily to heavy non stop for three days now.

Mutt - I think I may need to build that ark.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thor - If you get cabin fevar in 7 days, you belong in a state that has at least 352 days of sunshine a year, not a drearry state like CA that only has 348 days of sunshine a year.

It must be rough having to look at the sky and not see the sun, I feel for you man...Um, not real badly, but I feel for ya :)
