  1. Wow! this looks exactly the same. Do we care about the Visitors?

    ReplyDelete
  2. When I log it it goes back to TA.

    ReplyDelete
  3. what do you mean when you log it? Log in? I think we'll have to make the other changes separately.

Yeah, I figured making it look exactly the same is the easiest thing to do. It wasn't difficult at all. yeah, I think the visitors thing should go. . .

    ReplyDelete
  4. See my email about the format. Might want to tweak it a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I like this color layout better, there's nowhere near as much white, much easier on the eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I would like to see the grey color from the old site on the names and the sides.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'd prefer black over grey: it is better for keeping you focused on the brighter middle where your eyes should belong.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ah, that's how that part will work.

    ReplyDelete
  9. @emmy,

we will work out the most pleasing background as possible, plus the other side bar colors need adjusting. I encourage everyone to make suggestions until we get the best possible combo.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @emmy,

Thor and I (and we assume everyone else) has lost admin status at the other place because berg took it away. We can no longer change anything at the other site, we can post and comment but that is about it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh sorry guys, I was stuck in Emmy's test thread. Let me make some quick changes and you guys can let me know what you think. These things are very easy to configure, everything is in templates and easy to understand.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Is this any better? Trying I personally don't mind any color scheme, but I must say I do prefer a non white background if possible. Helps with Glare. Emmy, did you say you'd prefer the side parts to be black?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Grey is bad for the comment section. I like it at TA that the names (Thor said:) and other things are highlighted.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Pure white is too hard on the eyes, too.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Analytics has been set up - Let me know if anyone wants access to it from their personal account. The owner of the analytics info is the anonymoustraders@gmail.com account which you all can also access if you are admins.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh I understand what you're talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Bear with the changes folks, I'm just trying to figure out what everything is called. The changes are very easy to make, but what you're actually going to change isn't too horrible intuitive to figure out.

Emmy, I got the black background you were talking about, I agree, it's the best color. Denise, I'm still trying to find out which one of these tabs changes the comments sections.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hah, yeah, thanks Denise. Just realized I need to get a few things done in the office today. :-) I think this is a good start. I'll figure out how to put the bar in for the comments section user names later today if I get more time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Quibble: Could we use a lighter shade of gray for better contrast against the black comment words?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Emmy - yuppers. Denise, I noticed that! woops!

    ReplyDelete
  21. No rush, Thor, I was making a joke. We will get everything looking great as time goes on.

    ReplyDelete
  22. In honor of Rock, we should name this "Anonymouse Traders". :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hey Manny! We'll be up and running soon enough. Thor needs to tweak the colors. Any suggestions are welcome as to the format, colors, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  24. We're working on the colors now Manny - any requests? I'll get rid of the Halloween theme shortly.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oooh that's better - fewer colors is good

    ReplyDelete
  26. Denise I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to add those bars into our names. . . I figured out how to add the black lines to separate us but I think the actual bars like in the original site are part of the template itself. . :-(

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just having the lines is better. We can still keep looking at how to fix it. I would try things but I am afraid to mess it up and not be able to get it back before the changes.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well I think this is a good start layout wise - We can make changes in color and layout fairly quickly now that I know where to look.

Four of the five principle authors are all signed in. Just waiting on Dan and I think all that's left to do is transition this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Do you want to make the announcement and all that as your post tomorrow? Give everyone the opportunity to migrate?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yup - I'll do an open thread or something (fried this week) and link to it so that folks can take a look and give feedback.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think we should have the "official" rollover for the weekend. The weekend open thread can be like our Constitution if you will. What we are, what our rules are, what our code of conduct should be, etc. Simple simple, simple, the shorter and easy to read it is, the better for us.

Manny, you'll be the official blog opener on Monday :-)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lucky number - site looks good on an iphone

    ReplyDelete
  33. Denise-Yhor
    I love it.
If doesn't mean too much trouble I reslly like Denise idea to add an E and being anonymouse.
Remainds me the David and Goliath thing and we all know who won.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sorry Thor I gave you a hebrew name probably to keep the David-Goliath stuff running.:)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sheesh, I cannot wait to get out of that place. It's Toxic :-(

Manny, I got as manny Manny Mondays covered for you as you need. I totally understand your frustration. These people just don't go away do they? They invade TBP, and the other blog. That's why I want this one. We can collectively ban the worst offenders without someone getting their pants in a bunch about some imaginary "censorship" idiocy.

You have to agree though Libertarians are for the most part insane.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dastro - I like that idea! let me see how easy that is to do

    ReplyDelete
  37. I hear you, Thor. It's quite sad, really. It's a matter of time before they start stirring shit over here too. I'm honestly starting to question even visiting blogs anymore. Too many crazy people out there. It's just not healthy.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Thor: No requests for colors. A little ligher shade of gray for the background maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'll give it a shot on Monday. Hopefully we can keep things going in a forum that's a little more respectful but if this shit follows us over here, I'm done for good. Maybe that's what they want? I'm amazed at how obsessed these people are with the blog. It's incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Meaning obsessed with a blog in a way that their only focus is to disrupt and inflame. There's a special sort of pathology in that kind of behavior and I don't mean that in a positive way.

    ReplyDelete
  41. sorry, got stuck on the other blog. Can you believe that shit?

    ReplyDelete
  42. hah, you're spot on with your 10:44, check your email, that's exactly what I just emailed you about ;-)

You're also spot on with your 10:45, it's disturbing isn't it? Because it makes absolutely no sense. Here we are going off to create a group blog, and Bergie talking about control issue?? It's frightening, the obsession with BR is even creepier because it NEVER ends. I'd have sworn it would have at least lightened up a little, but it's been over a year now and it's still going on.

    ReplyDelete
  43. God my emails look bad when I don't edit

    ReplyDelete
  44. MEH - If you're reading this, do you want to be an Admin? You don't have to post at all, but you have been committed to this along with us since the beginning and I think you are very fair. I think everyone else in the group would agree as well. If not, that's totally cool :-)

Ican you too if you're interested!

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Thor

Is a very good idea to offer Admin to Mark and I-can (very levelheaded guys) and don't forget to offer it to Rock too.

    Dan

    ReplyDelete
  46. Dan - yes, Rock, Greg, Todd - Any one of the regulars can be an admin. I trust them all. The only thing we care about baby sitting is the posting schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Kayem!!! OMG that was beautiful :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. See Thor,
People comes if we keep it honest and hard work.
    Dan

    ReplyDelete
  49. THREE lurkers :-) Kayem has been around since long before me!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Manny,

What we can do if they continue to follow us here is to do comment moderation like BR does. This way all of their comments go into hell never to be seen again.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Man - Denise I've never seen you this upset before! I've calmed down. As soon as it was obvious that everyone saw what was really going on I was fine. You guys are the absolute best people - THIS is why I've been so dedicated to this group because I knew we had it in us.

And no, not because we're all on the same side - but I think that everyone is speaking up because they maybe might see what it was that kept Denise and I so dedicate to this blog and the people in it! This is something worth fighting for.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dan,

We know who the good guys are and the support we are receiving from everyone, lurkers and all is very heart warming and encouraging. We will have our own site.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Denise - yeah, I'm really not at all worried about that anymore. I think we're all in agreement that we need to do whatever it takes to make sure tonight is the last of the crazies.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Good grief. I am going to be here from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yeah, me too. I'll put up an open Thread here as well.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Do I still need to change the background color to a lighter shade of gray? I think it's changed already.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Gotcha Denise. It's painfully obvious that we're 100% RIGHT in doing this, especially after recent events. Tonight's little show only seals that thought as the right thing to do.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thor
That's why you have to enjoy it is the last night!
And tomorrow back to work the regular schedule.
    Dan

    ReplyDelete
  59. Maybe a little lighter on the gray if possible? Plus it is a bit depressing.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Denise you are on fire today.
The "...all in good fun was hilarious"

Yes a little lighter will be good.

    ReplyDelete
  61. See everyone tomorrow. Thanks, Dan.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dastro - coming right up

Does anyone care if I make it a little more beige/gray?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Denise - I am so glad you and I are friends. MAN you are on fire tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  64. How's this - a little brighter. Good?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yes, better, but I think it seems a bit depressing. Maybe more beige.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thank you, Thor. These people have no idea... Better to be on my good side.

    ReplyDelete
  67. When they start to follow us here then everyone will know it ain't us with the creepy obsession.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The color doesn't matter as long as it's not scarlet.

    have a good night Denise

    ReplyDelete
  69. Thor
It could be adjusted easily anyway, don't worry my friend.

the place looks really nice. Thank you
    Dan

    ReplyDelete
  70. LB I don't have an email for you to be invited to post if you want to be able to do that. If you're interested email Denise and one of us will add you.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm going to wake up tomorrow morning and wondering if all of this was a dream. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez. Best blog war. EVER

    ReplyDelete
  72. And you have to admit - when smart people get mad and mean, it makes for some pretty entertaining shit. Are all of you lurkers out there enjoying the show? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  73. thor -

"Are all of you lurkers out there enjoying the show?"

not really. i haven't been able to keep up with all the cross currents. overall, it just makes me sad. just too depressing.

a lot of interesting perspectives left tbp way back when. i valued them all for the heterogeneity of their contributions of data, informative as well as wacky links, critical analysis and insights, just as with my church fellowship (uu's often self describe as 'like-minded people who like to meet to disagree').

up to a point i discount the occasional ad hominem remark (sometimes difficult on a blog to differentiate from good-natured ribbing), but the degeneration into sniping, personal attacks, and flames is a waste everyone's attention and time.

i regret that those i have valued (e.g., lb, meh, manny, nic, ben22, wunsa, to name just a few) are now dispersed over so many blogs and comment threads. i just don't have the time to browse so many during the day to harvest wheat from chaff.

wish you all well in forming a community. no doubt, from time to time i'll cruise and sample the wares, but increasingly i empathize with manny, "honestly starting to question even visiting blogs anymore."

i imagine the ptb on ws and in dc find such dissension amongst us common folk turning on each other quite reassuring.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thanks for checking in, 72bat. To be honest, it makes me sad as well. TBP blog isn't the same anymore either. It seems like a microcosm of what's happening in the country as a whole - "divide & conquer".

I truly just wanted (and still want) a place where we could all chime in with often opposing and disparate (but all valuable) viewpoints without it denigrating into personal attacks. Diversity off opinion and input are how we learn from one another. Once these blogs become echo chambers of group-think, they start to rapidly lose their true value. I'll accept my part of the blame, as am not blameless (I think some are more to blame the others though for constantly fanning the flames) and move on. I tried moving on by not going back to cv's blog, and not fanning any flames with him or anyone over there (although I did needle AT a bit on TBP recently, but in good fun) but that didn't seem to work either.

Good luck to you as well. Feel free to come around here any time.

  76. manny (& i can)-

thanx back at you. have always appreciated your relative unflappability and the view from the great northern plains. something about the midwest, y'know.

also, good to be able to recognize one's own culpability, man up and then move on. (still haven't been able to do that re my ex as some hurts cut too deep to ever heal. like in the cold war, m.a.d. - sigh.)

yes, a grown-ups room would be nice. sad to say, s'pose my 'tude is just a reflection of my advanced age. get fatigued with romper room antics after a while. as cute as the little ankle biters can be sometimes, ya just wish their parents had done a better job. not referencing anybody - just a reflection of social mood, i s'pose, as ben would say.

at this point, even chance the gardener would likely say, "i don't like to watch anymore." enuff.

    good night and good luck
